Hey warrior,
Alright, deep breath… we made it through Thanksgiving. Barely, but still. And now here comes Black Friday rolling in like an over-caffeinated toddler with a coupon book and a megaphone.
And honestly? Black Friday is… a whole thing when you’re dealing with mental health stuff or neurodivergence. The noise, the pressure, the “lowest prices of the year!!” energy, the decision fatigue, the overwhelm, the crowds, the urgency, the chaos — it’s basically a sensory nightmare wrapped in a discount.
You are not the weird one if today feels like too much. You are not the only one who doesn’t want to wrestle someone for a 60%-off air fryer. And you are definitely not behind if you decide to skip the whole show entirely.
But here’s the thing that hits hardest after Thanksgiving… the day after is when it gets real.
Because suddenly, we’re staring down the barrel of the holiday season like: “Ohhhh right. That’s coming. All of it. Again.”
The expectations. The socializing. The money stuff. The emotional stuff. The memories. The pressure. The logistics. The masking. The sensory overload. And the way the whole world seems to speed up when your brain already feels like it’s buffering.
If you’re feeling that mix of dread + fatigue + “maybe I’ll just hide under a blanket until January,” just know I’m right there with you. The holidays can be beautiful, but they can also be a lot — especially when your brain already operates on hard mode.
So here’s my little invitation for today:
Do something nice for yourself. Yes, today. No, it doesn’t have to cost money. No, it doesn’t have to be aesthetic or Instagram-ready. And no, you don’t need to “earn it.”
Here are some ideas if your brain is already like “ummm???”:
Make yourself a cozy drink and sit in silence for five whole minutes.
Watch something comforting, not something “productive.”
Order your favorite meal, or heat up leftovers and call it gourmet.
Leave the dishes for later — they’ll still be there, I promise.
Curl up under a blanket and just… be.
Take a nap that could legally be classified as a coma.
Go outside for two minutes and breathe cold air like you’re rebooting your soul.
Today is not about being productive. Today is not about catching sales. Today is not about planning the next month of your life.
Today is about reminding your nervous system that you’re a human being who deserves softness and care.
And honestly? That matters more than any Black Friday deal ever will.
Love Always, Amy Your Mental Health Warrior & Neurodivergent Advocate 💚
